Matano anticipates explosive season with latest striker addition
Tusker FC head coach Robert Matano is beaming with anticipation as the team gears up for the upcoming season with a powerful addition to its roster.
The brewers recently secured the services of renowned striker Eric Kapaito, and Matano believes the player's goal-scoring prowess will be a game-changer for the team in the upcoming campaign.
"Eric is one of the best strikers in the region and we are very delighted that he has decided to join us ahead of the new season. Without a doubt, he will be an invaluable player for us this season with his goal-scoring abilities being a great addition to the team," Matano stated with palpable enthusiasm.
Kapaito, who previously showcased his prowess on the Kenyan stage during the 2020-21 season, embarked on an overseas adventure to Ethiopia's Arba Minch.
Over the last two seasons, he continued to make waves with his goal-scoring finesse at the Ethiopian Premier League.
The footballer had even been on the cusp of a move to Zambia's Zanaco, yet the negotiation tables failed to yield an agreement, ultimately leading him back to his home turf.
The signing of Kapaito represents Tusker FC's sixth acquisition during this pre-season window.
Among the notable additions are Ugandan winger John Byamukama, Joseph Mwangi, and James Kibande from Nzoia Sugar, as well as Fabien Adikiny from Murang’a Seal.
Additionally, the team have shown their commitment to nurturing young talent by promoting goalkeeper Edwin Simiyu from their youth team.
With the new season on the horizon, Tusker FC has its sights set on victory as they prepare to take on Mombasa-based Bandari FC in their opening match scheduled for August 26, 2023
