Mikel Arteta told Martinelli can save Arsenal millions as striker after debut goal for Brazil
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been told Gabriel Martinelli could become a striker option for the club after an impressive outing for Brazil.
Martinelli netted his first international goal for Brazil during the FIFA World Cup qualifier against Colombia.

The Samba Boys were without some of their first choice options at centre forward, with Gabriel Jesus, who was on the bench, and long-term absentee Richarlison.
With Jesus reportedly not fit enough, Brazil’s manager Fernando Diniz opted for the Arsenal left winger to lead the lines.
The 22-year-old needed just four minutes to make an impact as he fired the five-time world champions into the lead.
However, Martinelli’s goal was not enough as a Luis Diaz double saw Colombia come from behind to steal all three points after a 2-1 win.
Arteta gets Martinelli message
Following an impressive outing for the youngster, on the occasion of his eighth appearance for Brazil, there are suggestions that he could become a striker option for Premier League side, Arsenal.
While Martinelli started his Arsenal career as a striker under former manager, Unai Emery, he has since developed into one of PL’s best wingers on the left under the new man, Arteta.
England-born Ghanaian star Eddie Nketiah currently leads the attack for the club, with Jesus struggling with injuries.
But the Gunners are said to be in the market for a striker, with Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen reportedly a target.
With his display against Colombia, Martinelli has received some glowing praise with TBR Football suggesting the player could play a similar role for the Gunners.
“After his performance for Brazil, Arteta should consider using Martinelli as a striker at some point,” tbr stated.
“He needs to improve his hold-up play, but the 22-year-old has all the other qualities to succeed in that role,” it added.
Martinelli will face his sternest test yet when Brazil take on fiercest rivals and world champions Argentina in an explosive clash on Tuesday.
