The final of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) is set as Morocco is set to battle Madagascar.

The two teams battled into extra time in their respective semifinal games to book a spot in the continental show down.

The Atlas Lions of Morocco winners in in 2018 and 2020 recorded a dramatic 5-3 penalty shootout over Senegal in the semifinals.

Senegal, the reigning champions, have been on a roll since a strong start to the group stage, defeating Nigeria.

In the semi-final, Senegal scored first in the 16th minute through Layousse Samb, but Morocco equalized in the 23rd minute via Sabir Bougrine.

Despite a goalless second half and extra time, Morocco’s prevailed in the penalty shootout, booking their spot in the final.

Madagascar on the other hand defied the odds to reach their first-ever CHAN final.

In the semi-finals, they edged out Sudan 1-0 with a goal by Toky Rakotondraibe in the 116th minute of extra time despite being reduced to 10 players following a red card.

The two semifinal results mean that Nigeria's group stage opponents Sudan and Senegal will battle for the Bronze medal.
