'My best...' - Paul Mucureezi heaps praise on KCCA's new goalkeeper Mugolofa, confident he will thrive
Thirteen-time Uganda Premier League champions KCCA FC are set to unveil new goalkeeper Mutwalib Mugolofa, as per multiple reliable reports.
It is believed that Kasasiro Boys and the custodian have agreed to a short-term six-month employment contract.
While several fans haven't necessarily bought into the acquisition, former KCCA player Paul Mucureezi is convinced the goal-minder has whatever it takes to thrive at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
"My brother, I strongly agree with you," Mucureezi responded to a post on X (formerly Twitter) about players (Mugolofa in context) raising their levels when they join bigger teams.
"But on this one, I really believe he’s ready, given enough time on the pitch. He will deliver," currently a Kitara FC player, Mucureezi added with optimism.
"My best (ball) playing goalkeeper in the country alongside Jack Komakech. He fits well in the KCCA playing style."
KCCA's goalkeeping department has struggled this season and have yet to get a consistent performer in between the sticks.
They've been forced to alternate with the likes of Derrick Ochan, Joel Emojong and youngster Juma Mutebi.
In the first half of the 2023/24 UPL season, KCCA have conceded 23 goals in just 15 games.
Only three teams, including Arua Hill SC (33), Gadaffi FC (28) and Busoga United (26), have conceded more.
Meanwhile, Mugolofa has recently been at Jinja North United in the FUFA Big League, a side he joined after departing UPL champions Vipers SC.
He is also a product of Vipers' primary feeder side, St Mary's Secondary School Kitende (SMASK), a side he led to multiple championships.
