Shadow Minister of Sport Geofrey Ssolo has stated that the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, will not host the forthcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Kayemba's statements contradict those of the State Minister for Sport, Peter Ogwang, who months back assured Ugandans to brace for action in June.

Uganda will host Botswana and Algeria on June 5 and 8, respectively.

"I can authoritatively tell the country that Namboole stadium will not be ready for the next Uganda Cranes home matches due to snail speed exhibited in the process, despite the 98bn shs given to them," Kayemba, who visited the ongoing project, wrote on his social media handles.

It should be noted that Ogwang has, time and again, postponed Namboole's reopening dates.

"Ogwang, are u ready to apologize for the 3rd time?" Kayemba questioned before adding: 'Signs of a failed state."

"We need accountability for the 98bn shs; we need to see the contracts and their terms and conditions," he demanded.

Last evening, the Uganda Cranes beat Kuwait 2-0 in an international friendly match played in Egypt.
