Nabi was reported to have agreed to part ways with Chiefs, just one month into his second season at a club, a decision that left fans and observers shocked.

A number of reasons have been provided over why the former Yanga and AS FAR Rabat coach is severing ties with the Glamour Boys with some saying he decided to return home to be with his wife who is sick after being involved in an accident in August while others claimed he did not have the necessary qualifications to lead the club in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Chiefs confirmed that talks were underway with Nabi over his future but nothing has come from the club so far with latest reports claiming the tactician could be considering rescinding his decision to leave.

However, according to South African journalist Mazola Molefe, who works with the country’s state broadcaster SABC, Nabi and Chiefs have not reached an agreement because of the huge compensation package that would be due to the tactician.

Nabi and Chiefs Yet to Agree on Compensation

“The reason why we haven’t heard or seen any form of communication is that they are locked in discussions between Kaizer Chiefs and Nasredine Nabi around a potential settlement there because the coach still had a one-year contract with an option to renew,” Molefe said on Soccer Zone.

“So, if you do the math there, it is a full season, alongside an extension which was at the discretion of the club to renew.”

Nabi signed a two-year contract with Chiefs, with the club having an option to extend by a further year, and he had just started the second campaign in charge of Amakhosi.

According to The South African, Nabi earns €40,000 (R783,000), translating Ksh6 million, per month and if he has to be sacked, then he could be paid up to R7.83 million (Ksh60 million) in compensation for the remainder of his deal.

However, the figure could be lower as it is still not clear why he is leaving and what the exit clause in his contract with Chiefs spells.
