Reactions as 'Erik don Hang' trends following Man United's 2-0 defeat vs Newcastle
Manchester United were stunned 0-2 away at St James Park against Newcastle United on Sunday, April 2, in the Premier League
The Red Devils were hoping to consolidate on their position on the table coming into this fixture.
However, there was no goals to tell before the break as both teams failed to finish off their chances in the first 45 minutes.
Fans had to wait until the second half for the goals to arrive and United ended up conceding the opener.
Joe Willock opened the scoring for the Magpies in the 65th minute to give the hosts a deserved lead.
United never really looked like they were going to find a way back despite their efforts, and the Red Devils were forced to pay once more as Callum Wilson sealed the victory in the 88th minute after latching on to ball from Kieran Trippier.
In the end it finished 2-0 in favour of Eddie Howe's Newcastle who have now leapfrogged United on the table, based on goal difference.

Don't deserve anything. Ten Hag has done fantastic but the McTominay obsession and lack of a proper striker has cost us today

So the difference between Ole and Ten Hag is literally just Casemiro? 😭😭😭

Yeah Ten Hag that is a blunder and a half my guy, you're going to have to take the blame for that one

This has been a clear cock-up from Ten Hag. Warning signs of starting McTominay and Sabitzer were there against West Ham and Fulham. Fred came on too late and taking both centre halves off suggests muddled thinking. Performance worse than at Anfield. #mufc

Ten Hag isn’t immune to criticism. Today has been shambolic from top to bottom
— Breezy (@BreezyUTD) April 2, 2023
Ten Hag spent the whole week chatting the most about Newcastle's style of play only for Newcastle to drill in 22 shots on their heads, clean 2-0 slapping and draw level with them on goals scored while conceding 18 less😭😭😭
