Newcastle keen on Manchester United's Harry Maguire

Manchester United captain Harry Maguire is reportedly on the radar of a number of English clubs, including Newcastle United. 

The 30-year-old defender joined the Red Devils from Leicester in 2019 and had impressive periods with the club, which eventually saw him named captain.

However, in recent years, the England international's form has waned, and he has fallen down the pecking order for Erik Ten Hag's options in defence. 

According to Football Insider, the Red Devils are prepared to sell their captain, and the Magpies have emerged as an option. 

Despite a previously reported stance by the player to stay at the club and fight for the place, the upcoming EUROS might lead him to reconsider, as continued limited game time could hamper his chances in the Three Lions. 

The Eddie Howe-coached side would not have it all their way, however, with Aston Villa, Newcastle, and some non-English clubs also reportedly keen. 

Meanwhile, Manchester United are planning to make Marcus Rashford the top earner at the club following an impressive 2022/2023 season.

Rashford presently makes a basic salary of £200K per week, and his contract has an additional year left because the club exercised its 12-month option to extend it.

According to reports, Manchester United are looking to extend Rashford’s contract and offer, making him the highest earner at the club.
