Newcastle United vs Brighton: Magpies BURN Seagulls' Euro dreams to keep UCL hope alive

Deniz Undav stole the show as Brighton and Hove Albion failed to build on their brilliant win over Arsenal at St James' Park in the Premier League.

Undav netted an unfortunate own goal as Newcastle United thrashed the Seagulls 4-1 on Thursday night.

Two goals in either half from Undav, Daniel Burn, Callum Wilson and Bruno Guimaraes gave the Magpies an impressive home win.

English defender Daniel Burn chose the best day and time to grab his first-ever goal for Newcastle United in the Premier League.

Burn scored a stunning header just before the break to give the Magpies a comfortable 2-0 lead heading into the break.

The goal was his first in the Premier League for the club and could prove to be a decisive one as Newcastle moved a step closer to a first appearance in the Champions League in over 20 years.

Four days after an excellent display saw them end Arsenal’s Premier League title hopes, Brighton’s European aspirations suffered a dent on the road.

The Seagulls slapped the Gunners 3-0 on their last travel and visited St James Park hoping to build on that impressive win.

However, one of the stars at the Emirates, Undav, netted an own goal as the Seagulls fell to a narrow defeat this time.

Undav made amends in the second half but it was nothing but a consolation for Premier League Manager of the Year nominee Roberto De Zerbi and his side.
