NFF president reveals when they will pay money owed to Super Falcons
NFF President Ibrahim Gusau has addressed allegations that claim the federation owes the Super Falcons players money dating back to 2021. While he admitted they owed the players some money, he said the reported value was exaggerated.
What he said
Speaking to Osasu Obayiuwana in Morocco, Gusau promised that he is in conversation with the Nigerian government to ensure that the matchday bonuses for the ongoing WAFCON are paid before the end of the tournament.
“We are talking with Nigeria government and I am sure that all the money due to the players will be released very soon,” he said. “In the interim, we try to make sure that they are given their daily allowances before we receive money from the government. I can assure you that all their monies will be paid by the government before the end of the tournament.”
Addressing the current backlog of debt, he denied that they owed the players unpaid bonuses and allowances that stretch back to 2021.
“I am not aware of that. As far as I am concerned, we just have a little outstanding. But not up to 2021,” he said. “I told the girls that they do have a representative; they can come to the NFF and they can sort it out. We have our records of what was paid to them.
“But when I hear of these stories and call for an investigation, you hear of a different thing. I don’t know if you have been privileged to be with the team. You should speak to the administrator and get an answer from her.”
How much does NFF truly owe the Super Falcons star?
Contrary to the claims made by the NFF president, Osasu had published the details of monies owed to the Super Falcons by the NFF.
