Nico Williams agrees to join Barcelona

Barcelona have reportedly received word from Nico Williams’ entourage that he would like to join the club this summer amid heightened interest. 

The 22-year-old, off the back of an impressive LALIGA campaign for Athletic Club, shone in the European Championships, earning himself top suitors on the continent. 

Barcelona lead the list and have been pitching their case to the young winger; however, he continues to stall, and reports in the past week suggested that Williams will continue at Athletic Club.

According to a report from Spanish publication Sport, Williams has agreed to join Barcelona, and a deal is expected to happen should Barcelona manage to meet the financial requirements. 

Williams developed a wholesome relationship with Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal while with Spain, and over the summer he has cozied up to players on the Blaugrana books like Fermin Lopez and Pedri via social media.

Despite the seeming inevitability of a Barcelona move, given the relationships he has with members of the squad, pressure from his family, and his connection with Athletic Club, has made it more likely he will continue with the Basque side. 

Also, he was reported to have rejected Paris Saint-Germain’s approach, and then he shares a video of him returning to training while announcing to Athletic fans his excitement to return to action; this was viewed as confirmation that he will not be making a move this summer. 

However, he has yet to give a negative response to Barcelona, and the recent reports suggest he might still be making a move to Catalonia.
