Nigeria-eligible star signs with Liverpool

The youngster has had several impressive performances with the Liverpool youth team since joining the club.

The midfielder joined Liverpool at a very young age and made his debut for the Reds Under 16 team.

Afolami Onanuga, a box-to-box central midfield player made his debut in 2022–23 for Liverpool FC U18s while still an U16.

Academy scout Ricky Heywood saw Fola playing grassroots football in Manchester and brought him to the Academy as a U11 player.

In the latter part of the 2022–2023 season, he scored a wonderful goal in a 4-0 victory away at Newcastle United, demonstrating his ability to score goals and having a tremendous engine.

He has signed his first professional contract with Liverpool after impressing the club with his abilities.

The signing of Fola’s professional contract was announced on X by Liverpool’s official account, “Afolami Onanuga has signed his first professional contract with #LFC.”

The youngster begins a new journey to become a great footballer and looks forward to greater things with Liverpool.
