Nigeria Must Brace Up for Tough AFCON Challenge – Ex-Super Eagles player Aghahowa
Former Nigerian striker Julius Aghahowa has urged the Super Eagles to be prepared for a difficult challenge at the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d'Ivoire.
With the tournament rapidly approaching, Aghahowa stressed the importance of adapting to the different playing style and physicality expected in Africa, compared to the European leagues where most of the Super Eagles players compete.
Aghahowa Believes in the Team's Potential
Despite the expected challenges, Aghahowa expressed confidence in the Super Eagles' ability to compete for the trophy. He emphasized the importance of mental toughness and a winning mentality for the players to succeed.
"The players can do it, and I believe in them," Aghahowa stated. "But that commitment and resilience that the game is a must-win should be added to their mentality." Aghahowa told NAN.
Tough Group Awaits the Super Eagles
The Super Eagles are drawn in Group A alongside hosts Cote d'Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau. Their campaign will kick off on January 14th against Equatorial Guinea at the Alhassan Quattara Stadium in Ebimpe.
