Nigeria star Quadre admitted into Florida International University
Nigeria’s superstar tennis player, Oyinlomo Quadre, had been admitted to Florida International University.
The highest-ranked Nigerian female tennis player will combine academics and tennis in the United States of America.
Quadre will play college tennis and continue with her studies.
Quadre has represented Nigeria at different international tournaments, including the Billie Jean King Cup, in which she made her debut in 2021.
Her performance at the 2015 ITF/CAT Junior Championship in Morocco made her one of Africa's best junior tennis players and secured a scholarship to the High-Performance Center in Morocco.
She won the ITF/CAT U-16 Championship in Togo.
Quadre dreamt of breaking Serena’s Grand Slam record
The 19-year-old tennis star said in 2021 that her dream is to break Serena's Grand Slam titles.
She said, "When I was younger, my parents would tell me that I could beat Serena Williams, and when I played alone, I would usually imagine I was playing in the Grand Slam against Serena. My dad sees how hard I work to train and be better and my mum is always supportive of me."
Serena Williams won 23 Grand Slam singles titles, the most by any player in the Open Era, and the second-most of all time.
