Nigeria's Victor Osimhen back on the pitch after missing Super Eagles disastrous outings
SSC Napoli icon Victor Osimhen has reportedly returned to the pitch weeks after he picked up an injury on international duty.
Osimhen has not played for his Italian club since October but is back training as he continues his battle to be fit.
Osimhen’s injury update
The Nigerian striker has been out of action since he limped out of the friendly against Saudi Arabia in Portugal last month.
Osimhen, 24, has been battling his hamstring for a month, with the talented forward missing no fewer than eight matches for club and country.
The Napoli man, who emerged top scorer en route to a historic capocannoiere last season, has missed six matches for the club in Naples across competitions.
However, it seems the former Lille man is fighting hard to be fit again after he returned to training.
Osimhen returns
According to Football Italia, the 2023 Serie A winner is back on the pitch but training alone.
Osimhen was the most notable absentee as the Nigeria Super Eagles kicked off the journey to the 2026 FIFA World Cup on a shaky note.
Jose Peseiro’s Eagles picked up two points from a possible six after two disappointing draws against 153-ranked Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
But per the report, Osimhen is back and training on the pitch, with personalised sessions in Italy.
He is said to have also missed the first session under new manager Walter Mazzarri due to an illness but is stepping up his recovery on the pitch and in the gym.
The Nigerian forward is currently third on the list of scorers in the Serie A, with six goals in eight matches for Napoli.
