The Flying Eagles of Nigeria are set to take on the Morocco U20 national football team in their second Group B match of the 2025 CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), currently underway in Egypt.

Morocco opened their campaign with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Kenya, while Nigeria secured a 1-0 win against Tunisia in their respective openers.

Their respective starts means both teams tied atop Group B with 3 points each.

With qualification for the FIFA U20 World Cup on the line, this match could be a defining moment in the group.

Morocco 3-2 Kenya

Morocco defeated Kenya 3-2 in Group B to start their CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations, Egypt 2025 campaign on a high note.

Kenya had a strong start to the game and were rewarded in the sixteenth minute as Lawrence Ouma sprang to head in a precise free kick from Kevin Injehu.

But just before halftime, Morocco responded with a well-placed strike from Yassir Zabiri after a flurry in the box.

Just ten minutes after the restart, Zabiri doubled his tally with a crisp header from close range to give Morocco the lead.

Hassan Beja leveled the score at 2-2 in the 71st minute with a powerful strike from the center of the area.

In the 78th minute, Saad El Haddad's deft ball was intercepted by Reda Laalaoui, who calmly tapped past the goalie to make it 3-2.

In the 89th minute, Morocco was given a penalty, but the Kenyan goalie stopped Othmane Maamma's attempt.

Nigeria 1-0 Tunisia

At the 30 June Air Defence Stadium in Cairo, Nigeria defeated Tunisia 1-0 in a fiercely contested Group B opener to get off to a winning start in their pursuit of an eighth CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations championship.

In a game that was full of physical altercations, close calls, and late drama, the Flying Eagles managed to grind out a victory thanks to a goal from Auwal Ibrahim in the first half.

The Nigerian goalkeeper and defenders stayed firm as the North Africans reacted quickly, coming close to tying the score through Omar Ben Ali and Anis Doubal.

Nigeria has now won eight of their past 10 tournament opening games, making them the most decorated team in U-20 AFCON history with seven trophies.

Morocco’s squad, packed with talent from top European clubs, remains a formidable force on paper.

The Flying Eagles, as Nigeria’s U20 team is known, are backed by former players like ex-Flying Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, who recently urged the squad to aim for AFCON glory.
