Nigerian-born Elijah Adebayo suffers racist abuse: Premier League reacts to Luton Town star
After Elijah Adebayo equalized Luton Town's 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest, negating Chris Wood's brace in the second half, he was the victim of racist taunts on the internet.
After scoring a stunning equalizer in the second minute of stoppage time to secure a crucial point for Luton Town, Elijah Adebayo became the victim of racist taunts on social media.
Adebayo came off the bench to cap up Luton's thrilling comeback against Nottingham Forest, who had led 2-0 after two goals from Chris Wood entering the 83rd minute.
Adebayo earlier declared to be tired of the racial taunts directed at him after they resurfaced after Tottenham defeated Luton in a previous game.

The Premier League reacted to the racist abuse suffered by Elijah Adebayo on their official social media platforms.

Along with a photo was a message of solidarity message for Adebayo.
The statement said, "The Premier League has received a report of online abuse directed toward Luton’s Elijah Adebayo. We have offered our full support to the Club and Elijah.
"We will work with all relevant authorities to ensure the individual responsible faces the strongest possible consequences.
"Racism has no place in our game or anywhere in society. If you see or hear any abuse, please report it."
Adebayo, born in England, is eligible to play for the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the future.
He is expected to return to action when Luton Town takes on Aston Villa on Sunday, October 29, 2023.
