Nigerian journalist begs ex-Super Eagles boss Gernot Rohr to draw South Africa in 2026 WCQ
A prominent Nigerian photojournalist, Tobi Adepoju, has asked former Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr should play a meaningful role in the FIFA World Cup qualifier, WCQ.
The journalist, popularly known as OgaNla Media, made the remarks after South Africa’s Bafana Bafana took the lead against Rohr’s Benin Republic on Saturday.
What happened
OgaNla Media a top director at NNL club Ikorodu City spoke out after Nigeria, which is in the same Group C with South Africa and Benin Republic, kicked off its road to the 2026 FIFA World Cup on a shaky note after a dull draw against Lesotho on Thursday.
The Crocodiles came, saw and left with a share of the spoils after a gallant 1-1 draw in Uyo, with Semi Ajayi’s 67th minute header saving Nigeria’s Super Eagles blushes.
Nigeria’s draw against Lesotho left the Eagles with just a point, with South Africa and Benin yet to play.
Nigerian begs Rohr
However, two minutes into the game against Benin, the Rainbow Nation showed their intentions when Percy Tau fired them 1-0 ahead.
After the goal, OgaNla took to his social media account to drop a message for former Nigerian manager, Gernot Rohr, asking him to be useful.
“20' South Africa 1-0 Benin Republic,” he posted on X.com. Dear Gernot Rohr, be useful for once. Make the game end for draw,” he added.
At the point of writing this report, South Africa had doubled their advantage thanks tp a goal by Khuliso Mudau.
Should it remain that way, the Bafana Bafana will open up a two-point lead at the top of Group C.
