Nigerian midfielder identifies Victor Boniface as solution to Arsenal's attacking problem
Nigerian international, John Ogu, has issued a compelling appeal to Premier League side Arsenal to turn their attention to Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface.
Ogu has advised the Gunners not to overlook the wave-making talented Bundesliga-based striker in their search for a striker.
Boniface at Leverkusen
The 22-year-old has had an extraordinary start to life at the BayArena following his switch in the summer.
Boniface has become a fan favourite following what is a blistering start that has seen him claim a hattrick of Bundesliga Rookie of the Month awards.
He has scored seven goals and assisted five more in 10 matches so far in the German Bundesliga, with a Player of the Month award to his name.
Boniface’s form has also earned him a place in the Nigeria Super Eagles after he made his debut in the emphatic 6-0 win over Sao Tome and Principe in the AFCONQ.
Ogu warns Arsenal
Following his brilliant form for club and country, Super Eagles midfielder, Ogu, has sounded out Arsenal to look at the former USG forward.
The Gunners have struggled for consistency in the striking role, with main man Gabriel Jesus has been in and out of the team due to injuries.
In his absence, English-born Ghanaian star Eddie Nketiah has impressed in parts but the Gunners are said to be in the market for another forward.
Ogu, who is an Arsenal fan, has now advised the London side to go for his compatriot after recognising his potential as a future football star and possible solution for Arsenal’s search for a centre forward.
“Dear Arsenal, don’t sleep on Boniface, our solution,” the Super Eagles midfielder posted on his social media account.
Boniface was in fine form again as helped Leverkusen seal a ticket to the next round in the UEFA Europa League.
The Nigerian scored the decisive late goal, via a penalty, to help Die Werkself see off a stubborn Qarabag during their clash in the UEL on Thursday.
