Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has emerged as the hero for his South African club Chippa United, helping them reach the semifinals of the prestigious Nedbank Cup.

Nwabali, who recently cemented his place as Nigeria's first-choice goalkeeper at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, played a crucial role in United's quarterfinal clash against TS Galaxy.

With Chippa leading 1-0 in the closing stages of the match, Nwabali produced a superb penalty save just three minutes from time to preserve his side's slender advantage. 

The 27-year-old's heroics inspired Chippa United to a comfortable 2-0 victory after a late winner in the end.

Following the intense match, Super Eagles’ superstar Nwabali took to social media to express his delight. 

"This is my office!! Another clean sheet in the bag, back-to-back Nedbank Cup match wins prior to great team performance. Onto the next round! Chili boys," he wrote on his Instagram account, accompanied by a video of his impressive penalty save.

Nwabali's performance once again reminded Nigerians of his growing reputation as one of the top goalkeepers in African football. 

The Super Eagles star has now carried his impressive form in Cote d’Ivoire to the domestic stage in South Africa.

Chippa United's progression to the Nedbank Cup semifinals is a testament to Nwabali's influence and leadership within the team. 

The Chilli Boys will now be eyeing the opportunity to lift the prestigious trophy and secure a place in the CAF Confederation Cup next season.

For the Super Eagles, as they prepare for their upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign, Nwabali's continued heroics at the club level will undoubtedly boost his chances of retaining his spot in the national team's starting lineup.
