We don't need your help — Nigerians reject calls from 'Guardiola of Africa' Oliseh to return to Super Eagles for WCQ
Former Super Eagles captain and manager Sunday Oliseh’s sensational offer and heartfelt plea to help rescue the troubled Nigeria national team has been met with widespread rejection from Nigerian fans.
Oliseh, who previously managed the Super Eagles from 2015-2016, believes he can 'rescue' the team's faltering 2026 World Cup qualification campaign, which has been left in disarray following the disastrous tenure of Finidi George.
Nigerians say no to Oliseh Super Eagles return
As reported by Pulse Sports Nigeria, the football legend made his intentions clear, stating:
"If my country wants to speak with me, I will answer. I can also give technical assistance because we need to qualify for the World Cup."
However, Nigerians have made it abundantly clear that they want no part of Oliseh's return, with several fans lashing out at the former Super Eagles captain.
One fan bluntly stated: "Sunday Olise should take his pomposity elsewhere. Super Eagle doesn't need him. He is not different from Finidi George."
Another scathing comment read: "This one that will come & start fighting players. If you know you are so good as you often perceive go and coach another club or national team. Super Eagles is not a must for you to coach. We don't need you."
The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) is yet to confirm Finidi George's resignation, despite the former Enyimba man moving on to a new job leaving the national team in a state of chaos.
Oliseh, who lost just two matches in 14 games and conceded just six while scoring 19 goals during his previous spell as Super Eagles manager, believes he can turn the team's fortunes around.
But his pleas have fallen on deaf ears, with Nigerians adamant that Oliseh is not the answer to their problems.
“Make person tell am make him go rest abeg, him wahala pass Finidi own,” another unimpressed Nigerian added.
“His Coming back will give us everlasting set back we don't need him in our national team again,” another keen Super Eagles follower concluded.
As the search for a new manager continues, the fans have made it clear that the former captain is not welcome back in the hot seat.
