Nigeria's D'Tigers humbled 72-62 by Uganda in 2nd 2025 Afrobasket qualifier

Nigeria's senior men's basketball team known as D'Tigers continued their participation in the 2025 Afrobasket qualifiers.

D'Tigers suffered an 82-89 loss to Libya in their opening game of the qualification series.

D'Tigers returned to action against Uganda on Saturday, February 24, 2024.

At the Salle Mohamed Mzali Arena in Tunisia, D'Tigers lose 72-62 to Uganda in their second qualification game.

On the second night of a back-to-back, D'Tigers were down 12-7 after the end of the first quarter.

Uganda continued their dominance to take the second quarter 17-12 and take a 10-point lead to the halftime break.

In a back-and-forth third quarter, Uganda were on top 26-25 extending their lead to 11 points.

D'Tigers took the fourth quarter 17-18 but Uganda held on for a win.

Robinson Opong off the bench in 36 minutes produced 39 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists to lead Uganda to the win.

Devine Chukwuemeke Eke in 39 minutes produced 19 points, six rebounds, and seven assists to lead D'Tigers.

D'Tigers will aim to wrap up the first round of qualifiers with a win when they take on Cape Verde on Sunday, February 25, 2024.
