Nigeria's Flamingos set for quarterfinal rematch against USA

Nigeria's under-17 team known as the Flamingos are getting ready for the knockout stages of the 2024 FIFA U17 Women's World Cup.

The team led by Bankole Olowookere are flying high with eight goals scored in just two games.

They recorded a comfortable 4-1 victory against New Zealand in their Group opener.

They ran riot in their second group game with a 4-0 win against Ecuador.

Nigeria's Flamingos are expected to face the United States in the quarterfinals.

It should be noted that the two teams faced off in the same competition round in India two years prior.

After the scores were tied at halftime, the Flamingos advanced to the semifinals 4-3 thanks to penalties.

The USA defeated their closest rivals, Colombia, 2-0 in the tournament this year, after losing 3-1 to dominant Spain on the first day.

This victory propelled them to second place in Group B and are expected to qualify after facing South Korea in their final group game

The USA are now set to be the runners-up in Group B and will face the Flamingos the potential winners of Group A.

The hosts, Dominican Republic, will be the opponents of the Flamingos' last group match.
