Nigeria's Kwara Falcons beat Spintex Knights in jollof war to lift Louis Edem title
Kwara Falcons have emerged as the inaugural champions of the Louis Edem Basketball Championship.
The Falcons put up a solid performance to dispatch their stubborn opponents from Ghana, Spintex Knights 65-57 in the final on Saturday evening.
Falcons dominate Knights
The Nigerian champions proved why they are the best in the country with how they expertly limited the Knights with an excellent defensive display.
Inspired by eventual MVP, Victor Eze, the BAL-bound Falcons dominated the encounter from start to finish at the Indoor Hall of the National Stadium.
The Knights did wake up in the final quarter led by superstar, James Amotoe, but it was rather to late as Falcons held on for the emphatic victory.
Ultimate champions
With their win over the Knights in the ten-team invitational tournament, Kwara Falcons have proven why they are the best in the land.
The excellent Falcons have now added the victory at the Louis Edem championship to their previous wins in the Bullet and NBBF league.
Cash rains on Falcons and Knights
Having gone head-to-head in the final, Falcons and Knights will head come with their bank accounts duly credited.
For winning the competition, the Nigerian champions received a cheque of N2 million while Ghana's Knights will return to their country N1 million richer after what has been an impressive first outing in Nigeria for the Nobles.
Louis Edem Championship
The inaugural Louis Edem invitational basketball championship was put together by former D'Tiger star, Louis Edem Ekpeyong, who organised the competition in honour of his father who passed on due to COVID-19.
The competition featured ten teams, with Spintex Knights the only foreign team invited for the first edition.
