Noah Lyles Details How Putting Himself in Uncomfortable Situations Has Made Him a Superstar
Olympics and world champion Noah Lyles believes he would not be a complete sprinter if he did not constantly put himself in tough situations.
Lyles has won the world 200m title three times in a row while he is the world and Olympics champion over the 100m.
However, 100m was not his specialty until the 2023 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary when he floored experienced names over the distance to win gold and did the same at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The American says he would not have those accolades if he did not always throw himself in the deep end to try and succeed where few felt he had no or little chance.
Lyles Explains Importance of Doing it the Hard Way
“When I first started, a lot of people knew me as a 200m runner. I always knew myself as an 100m runner as well, I just did not have the part of my career that could showcase that,” Lyles said in Silesia, Poland on Friday ahead of his 100m race in the Diamond League on Saturday.
“After I had the 200m on lock, I moved on to getting the 100m and we put a lot of work into that and these are the results. I got the triple gold in Budapest, Olympics gold in 100m and bronze in 200m and now I am known as the best 100m runners in the world and the world’s fastest man.”
Lyles insists he relishes providing his detractors wrong and is never fazed by the records of fast times of his opponents whenever he puts his mind to a race.

“So, I am constantly forcing myself into uncomfortable positions so that I have to show up. People may have fastest or personal bests than me and that is what gets me excited. Having to step up to the plate and make the moment count,” he added.
Lyles is set for another uncomfortable situation in Silesia as he will take on Olympics silver medalist Kishane Thompson, the world’s fastest man, who has a time of 9.75 seconds this year.
