Noah Lyles makes his feelings known towards running 400m & track rival Letsile Tebogo responds

Olympics 100m champion Noah Lyles has received an instant challenge from track rival Letsile Tebogo after his comments about the 400m race.

Lyles, the world 100m and 200m champion, has been flirting with the idea of running 400m for over one year now.

The sprinter had promised to try out the race at the Paris 2024 Olympics but did not live up to it. However, he seems not to have let that idea slip.

“Did a 400m workout yesterday and I’m not gonna lie… I think I need to run a 400 soon,” Lyles posted on X on Saturday.

That affirmed his belief that he can actually run and do well in 400m and he received great feedback from a man who knows a thing or two about the race.

Botswana sprint sensation Letsile Tegobo responded in a manner that will perhaps make Lyles try to actualize his ambition.

“You can do it. Will be waiting for the feedback,” Tebogo replied to Lyles’ message.

It was a message of encouragement or perhaps an invitation to competition as Tebogo has been running 400m although he is yet to do it at a major championship.

The 21-year-old even started his 2025 season with a 400m race at the Maurie Plant in Melbourne, where he lost out to countryman Bayapo Ndori, as he settled for second place.

Tebogo, who clocked 45.26 seconds to Ndori’s 45.14 seconds in Melbourne, has a 400m personal best of 44.29 seconds recorded in Pretoria, South Africa in March 2024, and anchored Team Botswana to the 4x400m relay silver medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
