Nothing for Osimhen, Gala — Bright-Osayi backs ex-Chelsea boss to win Turkish league
Birmingham City's Bright Osayi-Samuel has expressed strong confidence in Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce to clinch the Turkish Super Lig title in the 2025/26 season, ahead of star-studded Galatasaray.
The 27-year-old, who joined Birmingham on a free transfer after four years in Turkey, had been linked with a move to Besiktas, but negotiations collapsed.
The outcome was a move to England's second tier.
Osayi-Samuel on Mourinho winning title over Osimhen
Reflecting on his time working with Mourinho at Fenerbahce, he told Birmingham Live:
“For me, he was a great coach. It felt like he was the mandem. Before the game, he would give us so many stories about his family and stuff. It’s not just football; he wants to know how you’re doing away from football.
He was a good coach for me, and I really enjoyed being there with him.”
Despite Fenerbahce finishing second to Victor Osimhen’s Galatasaray last season, Osayi-Samuel remains optimistic about Mourinho’s prospects of winning the league and stopping his compatriot from back-to-back titles.
“It’s difficult in Turkey with the pressure of not winning, and I feel like we were unlucky last year.
"With his [Mourinho’s] experience, in his second year in Turkey, I feel he will now win the league there,” the Nigerian star concluded.
Mourinho will have to contend with the star power of Galatasaray, who have signed Leroy Sane on a free transfer and Osimhen on a permanent basis.
