Former England international Rio Ferdinand has issued a confident challenge to Arsenal, claiming that they must now win the Premier League.
Arsenal extended their lead at the top of the Premier League standings after another routine win, edging Crystal Palace 1-0 at home.
Ferdinand believes that the Gunners depth is far superior to other teams and they must now land the trophy they have been craving since 2004.
Speaking on his Rio Presents podcast, Ferdinand praised the depth of the squad: “Arsenal have got probably the best depth in the league right now, all positions have really good cover.
"When all the squad’s fit, I think it’s an intimidating squad that you’re coming up against now.
“They’ve got robust players, players that can hurt you from different areas. It’s a good time to be an Arsenal fan.”
In a final warning and call to action for the club, Ferdinand insisted that anything less than the title would be a failure given their current strength:
“They’ve got to finish it off this time, they can’t go this season with arguably the best squad in the league and still not get the job done.”
Arsenal travel to Craven Cottage to face Fulham after the international break.
