NPFL: Remo Stars suffer another super six blow, lose new striker for the season
Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, side Remo Stars will continue the 2023 abridged season without new signing Junior Lokosa.
Pulse Sports Nigeria can report that the Super Eagles forward has been ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery due to an injury.
This much Pulse Sports can confirm following a statement by the Ikenne-based club on their official social media page on Sunday afternoon.
Remo lose Lokosa
The 29-year-old striker was one of five players who recently joined the club ahead of the second stanza in the NPFL.
Remo signed the former NPFL top scorer to help them solve their goalscoring problem but the club has now confirmed the former Kano Pillars man will miss the rest of the season after going under the knife.
“Junior Lokosa isn’t in the Matchday squad ( vs Shooting Stars) after an arm injury sustained vs El Kanemi Warriors in Maiduguri,” the club stated in a statement.
“The striker has since undergone surgery and will be sidelined until the rest of the season. Best of luck in your recovery process,” Remo concluded.
Remo suffer another setback
Lokosa’s injury is the latest setback for the Remo Stars who are looking to book one of six tickets to the super six later this year.
The Sky Blues were last week slammed with a heavy hammer from the Interim Management Committee, IMC, following an assault on an official.
Remo were docked three points and three goals while receiving a fine of N2.5 million for breaching four of IMC’s rules.
Now, ahead of a decisive match against neighbours Shooting Stars in Ibadan, the Stars have lost Lokosa, who recently joined the club ahead of the second round in the league.
The former NPFL top scorer was signed by the club to help solve their goalscoring problems which saw them struggle in the first half of the campaign.
