Nzoia's Humphrey Katasi opens up on secret for clean sheet haul

Humphrey Katasi has refused to take sole credit for the number of clean sheets he has at Nzoia Sugar FC, saying everyone should be praised.

The Sugar Millers captain has kept 16 clean sheets, with his team having conceded 21 goals from 32 matches played this season.

The custodian believes keeping a watertight defence will be critical to his side's hopes of success, and he has also credited his teammates for the work done so far.

"It is not about Katasi. It is about the whole team. Everyone celebrates a clean sheet like we scored a goal. So a clean sheet is important because it means we have one foot in three points already," he said.

Katasi is the more established number one at Nzoia, although there is loads of quality backup if needed, namely Benson Mangala and Dan Omuse.

"My personal target is to get the Golden Glove and help the team with their maiden league title. The support I get from my teammates is incredible and it pushes me to do better," Katasi revealed.

With two matches remaining to the end of the season, it is a very close race for the prize this year, with there being just one clean sheet between Katasi and Gad Mathews who is leading the race.

Gor Mahia custodian Gad has been part of a defence that is the second-best after KCB in this campaign, conceding just 18 goals in 32 matches.

The former Kariobangi Sharks keeper has undoubtedly played his part in keeping clean sheets, but it has very much been a team effort by Jonathan McKinstry's side.
