Official: Liverpool confirm the signing of Dominik Szoboszlai from Leipzig

The Leipzig midfielder has been a subject of transfer speculation, with teams like Arsenal looking to bring him to the Premier League.

The Hungarian scored six goals and provided eight assists for Leipzig last season making him wanted by top clubs in Europe.

Liverpool made him a priority target and made several negotiations with Leipzig to sign the midfielder but were only able to agree to pay his release clause.

He has now completed his move from Leipzig to Liverpool after paying his €70m release clause.

Liverpool have officially announced the signing of Dominik Szoboszlai on their official Twitter account after signing all documents.

According to Fabrizio on Twitter, “Official, confirmed. Dominik Szoboszlai joins Liverpool on a five-year deal; €70m release clause triggered.”

Liverpool's official Twitter account also posted saying, “We have completed the signing of Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig, subject to a work permit.”

Szoboszlai will wear the ionic number eight jersey of Liverpool legend and captain Steve Gerrard as he prepares for a new chapter.

The Liverpool new boy Szoboszlai has spoken about the manager Jurgen Klopp and looking forward to playing for him.

During an interview after signing for Liverpool as reported by Fabrizio, Szoboszlai said, “I’m joining a historical, top club. I’m very happy. The last three or four days went really long; it was not that easy!

“I’m here finally and I really want to tell Liverpool fans that I can’t wait to see them at Anfield, can’t wait to get started.

 “I will be number 8 as I’ve a tattoo from Steven Gerrard. That was the reason why. He was one of the biggest when I was a child.”

Speaking about the Liverpool manager, Szoboszlai said, “Klopp? Yes, he called me — it’s true. I said: ok, this is going to be a very good thing. Everything was perfect.”

Szoboszlai has become Liverpool's second signing of this summer transfer window as they continue building their squad for the new season.
