Austin 'Jay Jay' Okocha, a former captain of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, was one of the stars of the 2023 U-23 AFCON final on Saturday night in Morocco.

Along with other African football superstars like Elhadji Douf (Senegal), Emmanuel Adebayor (Togo), Asamaoh Gyan (Ghana), Alexandre Song (Cameroon), Arthur Boka of Cote d'Ivoire, and Karim Haggui of Tunisia, the mercurial Jay Jay Okocha was invited by CAF to attend the final match between Egypt and Morocco.

The African stars also took part in an exhibition game before the game earlier in the day.

Along with other African football superstars like Elhadji Douf (Senegal), Emmanuel Adebayor (Togo), Asamaoh Gyan (Ghana), Alexandre Song (Cameroon), Arthur Boka of Cote d'Ivoire, and Karim Haggui of Tunisia, Jay Jay Okocha was invited by CAF

With fifteen minutes left before kickoff, Okocha was given the honor of carrying the trophy.

Okocha shines at U-23 AFCON final

The trophy was placed on the field at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium by the Nigerian, who was wearing a navy blue suit, setting the stage for the thrilling championship match.

Okocha presented  the U-23 AFCON trophy prior to the Moroccan edition final in 2023.

The crowd cheered as soon as the announcer shouted his name, "Okocha," and he magnificently strode away with the trophy.

It was a well-deserved honor for a man who, in 1996, played a key role in Africa's first and only Olympic football gold medal.

With fifteen minutes left before kickoff, Okocha was given the honor of carrying the trophy.

After 120 grueling minutes of action, tournament hosts Morocco upset reigning champions Egypt in the hotly contested championship match.

Morocco, the first-ever U-23 Africa Cup of Nations champion, will represent Africa at the Olympics in Paris in 2022.
