Onyekuru outshines Ighalo as Al-Fayha stifles Al-Wehda

Super Eagles of Nigeria stars continue to go shine in the Saudi Arabia Professional League.

Two Nigerian star forwards went head to head in a Saudi League fixture played on Saturday, October 7, 2023.

Super Eagles of Nigeria stars Henry Onyekuru and Odion Ighalo both started the game between Al Fayha and Al-Wehda which ended in a 1-1 draw.

It took Onyekuru just 23 minutes to break the deadlock with the first goal of the game for Al Fayha.

The goal came against the run of play as Ighalo's Al-Wehda were dominating but it was Al Fayha that would take the lead to the halftime break.

In the second half, Al-Wehda continued to press for an equalizer against a difficult Al-Fayha defense.

In the 76th minute, Jawad El Yamiq leveled the game latching on to a ball by Fayçal Fajr.

There would be no more goals in the game as Al Fayha were able to hold Al-Wehda away from home.

In a showing of three Nigerian forwards, Onyekuru shone brightest with a goal in 90 minutes.

Anthony Nwakaeme and Ighalo also featured for the entirety of the game but were unable to find the back of the net.

Ighalo's Al-Wehda return after the international break against Al-Ahli Saudi while Onyekuru and Nwakaeme's Al Fayha take on Al Akhdoud next.
