Orban victorious over Onyedika

Although Orban was on the bench at the start of the match, he was still on the winning team thanks to a brace from Hyunseok Hong, which was scored on either side of Hans Vanaken’s goal for Club Brugge.

The Korean netted his first goals of the 2023/24 campaign, to win all three points for Gent with two superbly taken goals in the 25th and 49th minute.

The win leaves Gent top of the league with 13 points from their opening five matches, ahead of Union Saint-Galloise and Cercle Brugge.

Onyedika unable to help Club Brugge

Onyedika started the game for Club Brugge, but could not help his side avoid their first defeat of the season.

The Nigerian midfielder was still among the better players on the pitch but could do little to affect the final scores.

His compatriot, Orban, entered the fray in the 65th minute for Tarik Tissoudali, likely in a bid to reduce the workload on the 21-year-old started the Europa Conference League playoff against APOEL Nicosia.
