How it happened
Barcelona's top goal scorer Asisat Oshoala was dropped to the bench after an uncharacteristically shambolic performance in the Blaugrana's 1-0 win over Roma in the UEFA Women's Champions League.
However, her replacement, Geyse did not manage to stake her claim to dispose the Nigerian as the preferred striker, as a tightly contested first-half ended goalless.
The second-half was more of the same, Barcelona were dominant and were threatening, but Madrid did not just sit back and enjoy their rivals string passes together, they also looked dangerous in transition, and had periods of sustained possession.
Giraldes made a host of changes on the hour mark in an attempt to turn the tie, and the substitutions and and influence on proceedings as Barcelona became more relentless.
They finally got a well deserved goal in the 77th minute of the game when Salma Paralluelo was fouled in the box leading the referee to point to the spot.

The Madrid players were in full protest, but the referee stuck to her guns. Fridolina Rolfo took responsibility, and made no mistake, firing past Misa Rodriguez.
The goal proved to be the match winner, confirming Barcelona's 11 win in the Clasico over Real Madrid, and extending their league lead to 13 points.
