Osimhen brushes off Instagram scandal, takes CAF POTY award to alma mater Olusosun Primary School
Reigning CAF Player of the Year Victor Osimhen has put the controversy caused by a recent Instagram rant behind him as he celebrated with old friends from his elementary school Olusosun Primary School in Oregun Lagos.

After leading Napoli to a first Serie A title in 33 years with a stunning 26 goals in 32 appearances, Osimhen was crowned as the CAF Player of the Year for 2023, beating competition from Achraf Hakimi and Mohamed Salah to win the award.
The Napoli forward became the first Nigerian player in 22 years to win the African Footballer of the Year title and the first Super Eagles player in nine years to make the podium after Vincent Enyeama in 2014.
Osimhen presents CAF Award to alma mater
The Nigerian striker, on holiday during the off-season, made a trip to his old stomping grounds in Oregun, Lagos to show his CAF POTY award amidst fanfare that greeted his triumphant return.
Osimhen’s visit was catalogued by X user @SoccerNationNG, who captioned a video showing Osimhen showcasing his award, “Victor Osimhen took his CAF Best Player of the Year award back to the same pitch in Olusoun, Ojota- where it all started for him.”

Osimhen had most recently been in the news for his Instagram rant aimed at Super Eagles manager Finidi George over comments attributed to the Nigerian coach, so the Napoli man will be happy he is being associated with some good news.
