After defeating Brazil 122–87, the American men's basketball team advanced to the Olympic semifinals in Paris in 2024.

Using a well-rounded offensive strategy, the United States defeated Brazil, as six players scored in double figures.

Joel Embiid finished with 14 points and seven rebounds, while Devin Booker led the way with 18 points.

Anthony Edwards led the scoring off the bench with 17 points, while LeBron James finished with 12 points, nine assists, and three steals.

Bruno Caboclo of Brazil topped all scorers with thirty points, followed by Anthony Davis and Kevin Durant for the United States.

In men's basketball, the United States now needs two more victories to clinch their fifth straight gold medal.

From the start, the United States dominated the match. For the first few minutes, Brazil was able to maintain a close score, but then the United States gained control and never looked back.

In the second quarter, the United States increased their lead to 19 points before Brazil embarked on a 10-0 run.

Embiid led the way with 15 points at the half, followed by James with 10. The Americans shot 59 percent from the floor and had an outstanding five steals and blocks.

The United States played amazing team basketball and maintained a lead of at least 20 points for the duration of the second half, preventing Brazil from ever getting back into the game.

The Americans ultimately shot 57.7 percent from the field and 48.4 percent from deep.

They also had six blocks against Brazil's 0 and outrebounded Brazil by a margin of 12.

Kevin Durant makes history

Officially, Durant rose to the top of the scoring record in both the men's and women's USA Olympic history.

With a dunk, he eclipsed Lisa Leslie's record of 488 points, giving the United States an 86-59 advantage.

In the semifinal match, the US will play Serbia for the third time in the previous three weeks.

On Thursday, August 8, there will be a semifinal match.

The winner of that match will compete for the gold medal against the winner of the France vs. Germany match.
