Evra formed part of a highly-successful Manchester United team, having played for the club for nine years between 2006 and 2014, and winning five Premier League titles and one Champions League.

His marauding runs down the left flank to create chances for his teammates and keep United out danger, added to his no-nonsense approach when it came to dealing with rival players, endeared him greatly to Red Devils faithful.

Born in Dakar, Senegal, Evra’s father was a diplomat who moved with the family to Belgium when the footballer was one year-old and two years later, they settled in France, the country which the left-back chose to represent at international level, earning 81 caps and playing in three World Cup and four Euro tournaments.

After leaving United, Evra had a successful stint at Juventus for two-and-a-half seasons before later playing for Marseille and West Ham briefly.
