Pau Gasol Honors Kobe Bryant with touching tribute

Spanish legend Pau Gasol paid tribute to his former Los Angeles Lakers teammate Kobe Bryant with a post on the social media.

The legendary guard was tragically killed in a helicopter crash on January 26, 2020, at the age of 41 and would have turned 47 on August 23.

"Happy birthday, brother. Miss you and love you, always," Gasol wrote, adding a photo of himself with Kobe to the post.

The basketball world paused to honor what would have been the 47th birthday Kobe Bryant.

The celebration comes five years after his tragic death in a helicopter crash on January 26, 2020.

Among the many tributes pouring in from fans, NBA icons, and Bryant's family, was the one of one stood out was his former Los Angeles Lakers teammate and close friend, Pau Gasol.

Gasol post a photo of them in their playing years with the Lakers accompanied by a message that said, "Happy Birthday, hermano.

"I miss you and love you always."

This tribute by Gasol trended on social media with a million engagement as fans and peers celebrated Bryant's "Mamba Mentality".

Gasol would play a pivotal role with Bryant in a dynamic partnership that led the Lakers to back-to-back NBA titles in 2009 and 2010.G

Their relationship transcended the basketball court as Bryant's demanding leadership ultimately brought out his best from Gasol.

Their six seasons together (2007–2014) were marked by three NBA Finals appearances and celebrations beyond basketball.
