Perfect Amus college through to semis as Kawempe, St. Noa equal strength
Amus College is through to the semifinals of the East Africa Secondary Schools girls' football championship after edging Tanzania’s Fountain Gate 1-0 in their third game of the groups.
Imelda Kasemiire scored the all-important goal as the Amus maintained their perfect record with three wins in as many games.
The win took them to nine points, three more than the record-four times' winner Wiyeta Girls from Kenya.
The Kenyans thrashed Sacred Heart from Uganda 4-0 for their second win in the group stages.
The two giants will face off on Wednesday in a match that will greatly affect who finishes on top of the group.
In the other match played, Ugandan rivals Kawempe Muslim and St. Noa Girls matched each other’s strength in a goalless draw.
The result left the two joint-top in Group A with seven points, two ahead of Madira Girls.
St. Noa needs a point against Madira Girls from Kenya on Wednesday to ensure both Ugandans sail through.
