‘Playing in the Premier League is a dream’ - Okoye reveals club he would play for in the EPL
Maduka Okoye joined the Super Eagles for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Rwanda and Benin.
However, the Udinese goalkeeper was an unused substitute in the Super Eagles 1-1 draw against Benin at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny.
Despite the result, the Super Eagles secured their qualification for the 2025 AFCON tournament in Morocco.
Okoye reveals favourite EPL club
Okoye declares Chelsea, a London-based team, his ideal English Premier League destination, expressing his affection for the team.
In an interview with SportyTV, uploaded to YouTube, Okoye said, "Of course, playing in the Premier League is a dream for me.
"For me in the Premier League, it's Chelsea. I am not a Chelsea fan, but I always kind of supported Chelsea, I wouldn't say Chelsea is my team because my teams are in Germany but in England, Chelsea is my team."
Despite his aspirations to play in the Premier League, Okoye never wavered in his dedication to Udinese.
He continued, "But I'm in the Serie A right now. I'm at Udinese and I'm very, very happy here, and I really fell in love with not just the Italian type of football but also the Italian way of living. I'm planning to stay here and enjoy my time in Italy.”
Nigeria's last group game against Rwanda is scheduled for Monday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo and Okoye will be hoping to start the game.
