After weeks of uncertainty, the Nigerian forward is set to train with Atalanta once again under new coach Ivan Juric.

Lookman’s reintegration after transfer saga

Lookman’s relationship with Atalanta looked fractured in August when he attempted to push through a move to Inter. The fallout saw him frozen out of first-team activities and forced to train separately, sparking doubts over his long-term future with the club.

But reports from Italy, including Gazzetta, confirm that Atalanta have decided against further punishment, opting instead to bring him back into the squad.

The timing is crucial, with Juric only recently stepping into the dugout and eager to see what role the Nigerian international can play in his system.

For Lookman, who was understandably lacklustre with Nigeria during the September international break, this reintegration represents a chance to reset and rebuild his standing with the fans and teammates in Bergamo.

Lookman's fitness, future, and Juventus interest

Friday’s session was Lookman’s first under Juric, and while questions remain about his immediate fitness, he could be in contention for Sunday’s Serie A clash with Lecce.

His return not only boosts Atalanta’s attacking depth but also adds intrigue, as speculation around his future refuses to fade.

Ademola Lookman checked in at Atalanta earlier last month but handed in a transfer request.

Despite the transfer window being closed, according to Tuttosport, Juventus are circling, viewing him as their top candidate to replace Dusan Vlahovic should the striker depart.

With Lookman’s contract running until June 2027, Atalanta still hold the cards, but Lookman’s reintegration ensures they won’t lose a valuable asset on the pitch while negotiations swirl off it.

The prodigal son is back in training, whether his long-term home remains in Bergamo, though, is still a question for the months ahead.
