The Red Devils are adamant they will not be forced to over-pay for Hojlund, but are also aware that they now need to accelerate talks to avoid PSG hijacking the deal.
United attempted to reach an agreement by offering player-plus-cash deals but Atalanta showed no interest and they will now be forced to meet the club's asking price believed to be £75m or lose out as PSG apply pressure.
Hojlund scored 9 goals for Atalanta last season and has significant upside. He possesses enormous strength, speed, and intelligent movement to make him an instant hit at any top club.
Should he move to Manchester United, the 20-year-old is expected to help ease the goalscoring burden on Marcus Rashford next season.
