Rangers 0-2 Man United: Fringe Super Eagles man struggles against Amad-inspired Red Devils
Nigeria Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers had an off day as Rangers fell to an impressive Manchester United side led by fellow African Amad Diallo in a preseason match.
Pulse Sports Nigeria reported that the Red Devils were sharper and brilliant following a comfortable 2-0 win in Scotland on Saturday evening.
Super Eagles star subdued vs Man United
In what was a better and dominant outing from the visitors, compared to their sub-standard outing against Rosenborg, Nigeria’s Dessers managed 76 minutes of action.
However, his performance on the day left a lot to be desired as he struggled to impress the Gers before he was subbed with the team down by two goals.
During his time on the pitch, the 29-year-old managed to create a chance, one key pass and fired one shot at Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana, who had a rare off day despite facing five shots on target.
Dessers’ display on the day would be summed up when his sloppy play in possession six minutes before the break allowed Man United to find the breakthrough with Amad’s sensational opener in the 39th minute.
The game was the second of the preseason for the former Feyenoord man who is still yet to deliver an above-average performance.
Meanwhile, in a related development, the Super Eagles forward could return to Serie A for over N8.4 billion this summer.

Dessers, the Belgian-born Nigerian international, finds himself at a crossroads in his football career at Scottish side Glasglow Rangers.
Rangers have named the condition to let the Super Eagles striker leave the club after an enquiry from the Serie A for his service.
Despite netting 22 goals across competitions in his debut season at the club, the Nigerian international remains a divisive figure at the Gers.
After a successful stint with Cremonese in the Italian Serie A, where his seven goals and two assists helped the club avoid relegation, Dessers made the move to the Scottish Premier League giants, Rangers, in the summer of 2023.
However, he could be on his way back to one of Europe’s top five leagues should one of his suitors meet Rangers’ demands.
