Omotoyossi was one of Benin's most cherished football figures despite being born in Nigeria.

The news about the death of Omotoyossi has gone viral on social media with tributes from fans and other players.
The Federation Beninoise de Football released a statement to confirm the death of Razack Omotoyossi.
Thee statement said, "The great Beninese football family is mourning.
"One of his illustrious sons, Razack Omotoyossi, a former Beninese international, left us this Tuesday, August 19, 2025."
Omotoyossi's football career
Omotoyossi returned to Nigeria to kick start his career early on featuring in a stint with Sunshine Stars in Akure.
Following discovery by scouts he moved to Europe and featured for clubs such as FC Metz and Helsingborgs IF in Sweden.
Omotoyossi also played in several countries worldwide such as Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Egypt, and Turkey.
He made a total of 55 appearances for the Benin national team and contributed 21 goals before retirement.
