The German midfielder has stated that he will retire at the end of the season when his contract expires at the end of the season. The Real Madrid midfielder has been a hot topic of discussion all season.
Kroos is among the six players who are out of contract this summer. The likes of Karim Benzema, Luka Modric and Nacho Fernandez are all expected to stay at the Bernabeu next season.
Kroos and Madrid have a good relationship
Diario AS reported that Kroos reaffirmed his future at Real Madrid following the club's Champions League victory over Chelsea.
In an interview after the match against Chelsea, Kroos said, “Everything is on the right track, but I also respect what the club wants: how and when it communicates. There is a good relationship that I have with the club over the years… And this issue has already been discussed for a while.”
Kroos says there is trust between both parties
Still speaking, he said, “There is absolute trust on both sides. The club knew from the beginning that I was not going to do anything stupid. Theoretically, I can sign for another team from January the first, but we didn’t even start with this nonsense. There is a lot of trust there. I will most likely stay that way for a while.”
Real Madrid has been preparing to replace Modric and Kroos with players like Eduardo Camavinga, Fede Valverde, and Aurelien Tchouameni for some time, but they are naturally unwilling to part with either due to their performances.
