The 21-year-old, on loan from Czech powerhouse Slavia Prague, was handed a start in central midfield and produced one of his most assured performances since arriving in Poland.

Deployed as part of a double pivot, Ouma combined defensive steel with tactical intelligence, anchoring Lech’s play in a manner that allowed the team’s attacking players to flourish.

Ouma registered an 80 percent pass accuracy across the match, attempted a successful dribble, and made five key tackles and interceptions to stifle Rapid’s rhythm.

His ability to break up play and recycle possession was vital in ensuring Lech maintained control, particularly during moments when the Austrian side attempted to wrest back momentum.

Timothy Has Really Improved

Frederiksen, who has been gradually integrating the Kenyan into his squad, underlined the youngster’s progress and potential in his post-match reflections.

“Timothy has really improved,” the coach said as quoted on SportoweFakty. “He brings energy and intelligence to our play. He reads the game well, helps us control transitions, and is becoming more comfortable in possession. Performances like this show his progress.”

The match itself saw Luis Palma inspire Lech to the convincing victory. The Honduran forward opened the scoring after capitalizing on a goalkeeper error before providing two assists, while captain Mikael Ishak and winger Ismaheel also found the net.

Rapid Vienna managed a consolation through Radulović in the 65th minute, but Lech’s dominance was never in doubt.

For Ouma, the game marked a significant milestone in his European journey. Having struggled for regular minutes at Slavia Prague after signing from IF Elfsborg in January , the midfielder’s loan move to Poland was seen as an opportunity to regain confidence and adapt to the demands of European football.

Thursday’s commanding display was a sign that he is beginning to seize that chance.
