Super Eagles star Victor Boniface has been ruled out for the year after sustaining an injury.

Boniface returned to Bayer Leverkusen after participating in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers with his international team, Nigeria.

The 23-year-old participated in Nigeria's draw with the Republic of Benin and their loss to Rwanda.

However, he was unable to replicate his club form while playing for the Super Eagles as he struggled with his performance.

Boniface doubtful for weekend

According to Buli News, Boniface has arrived back in Germany, but he was not present at yesterday's team practice.

The forward reportedly suffered a thigh injury during the international break, which might keep him out of action for weeks or even three months.

Although the team has not yet released an official statement regarding their star player's injury status, it is extremely likely that Xabi Alonso will discuss the matter during his pregame press conference.

Boniface has been in good form since the start of the season, scoring six goals and providing one assist in 10 Bundesliga games.

The forward's offensive presence has been essential to the team's offence, therefore, his injury will hit hard on the manager.
