Reports: Vipers, Mbabazi part ways after just three months

Uganda Premier League and Uganda Cup champions Vipers SC have moved separate ways with head coach Charles Livingstone Mbabazi, per reliable sources.

The developments come just three months since his appointment in the hot seat on a two-year employment contract.

As per senior journalist Clive Kyazze, Mbabazi failed to show up at the club for business after Vipers’ one-all draw with Bright Stars at the St Mary's Stadium, Kitende last Thursday.

He apparently returned for their Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 16 tie against Iganga Young FC, but club president Lawrence Mulindwa, who was away in the UK ordered that he should not be allowed near the team.

In response to his absence after the game against Iganga Young, Vipers claimed that Mbabazi "was down with malaria."

The order would stand until he presented a written explanation as to why he went AWOL, which the latter has until now failed to abide by.

"And because of that, sources close to Mulindwa indicate that Vipers have moved on from Mbabazi," Kyazze wrote on his X handle.

Mbabazi has been in charge of six games since his appointment in January, managing four wins and two stalemates across all competitions.

The double draws came in Vipers' past two league games - 0-0 and 1-1 with Gadaffi FC and Soltilo Bright Stars FC, respectively, in Kitende.
