Ademola Lookman could only manage a cameo appearance as Atalanta ripped apart Monza thanks to a superb performance by new signing Gianluca Scamacca.

Gian Pierro Giasperini's side hosted Monza at the Gewiss Stadium as they looked to right the wrongs from their defeat away at Frosinone last week.

How it happened

Although it was a dominant performance by the hosts, one player stood out: Scamacca, who has returned to Serie A after a difficult time in England.

Atalanta were shocked last week against newly promoted Frosinone and needed a win to head into the international break.

The games started slowly but soon burst into life, with both teams getting chances to score. The hosts soon went ahead when Charles de Ketelaere, who was preferred on the day to Ademola Lookman, found Ederson. The Brazilian midfielder, in turn, fired the Gers into the lead in the 35th minute.

Scamacca doubled Atalanata's lead moments later, getting on the end of a Matteo Ruggeri assist for his first on the night.

The Italian striker doubled his tally for the night and put the hosts 3-0 up in the 62nd minute of the game, assisted by Teun Koopmeiners.

Ademola Lookman was subbed in the 82nd minute, replacing De Ketelaere, and he managed to create a scoring chance for his teammate, as well as register a shot on target.
